Thermo Dynamics® Solar Thermal Collector "S" SKU: S32A-SP To purchase a complete system, see Venus Water Heating to begin. The Thermo Dynamics® Solar Thermal Collector "S" absorbs direct sunlight and heats the black metal Sunstrip™ absorber underneath the tempered glass cover. Heat is transferred to a non-toxic anti-freeze. Propylene glycol is mixed with distilled water, pumped through the solar thermal collector and returned to the Solar Module Boiler. The mixture of hot glycol then transfers heat to the water flowing through a heat exchanger inside the Solar Module Boiler. The heated water is pumped to the HOTSTOW Storage Tank.
The FDA has determined propylene glycol to be "generally recognized as safe" for use in food, cosmetics, and medicines. Several localities are starting to require double-wall heat exchangers for tanks. Solarpowergetics also sells the SOLAR SR Water Tank which comes standard with an electrical backup 4500W, 240V element. The mixture of hot glycol transfers heat through a removable single-wall or double-wall heat exchanger indirectly heating the water inside the SR SOLAR Water Tank. The heart of the system is a highly efficient, light-weight Sunstrip™ fin with copper headers. Sunstrip™ is made from aluminum metallurgically bonded to a copper tube. The exterior is treated with a surface that ensures maximum energy collection. The collector box and backing of the Thermo Dynamics® Solar Collector is made from corrosion-resistant aluminum alloy (6061-T6) and features an attractive baked enamel finish (dark brown). The collector cover is a dimpled, low-iron tempered glass specifically formulated for solar applications. The collector is wrapped with insulation on the back and sides to minimize ambient heat loss. Frame fasteners are aluminum. All seals are rubber and non-degradable under ultra-violet light. Model Description * For a family of 1-3, a 40 gallon tank with 1 Thermo® Solar Collector S is adequate. However, do your homework to make certain that you will not need the second Thermo® Solar Collector to realize greater savings on your utility bill. The second collector is different from the first collector. Refer to model number S32B-SP. * For a family of 4-7, an 80-gallon tank with 2 Thermo® Solar Collector S is adequate. However, the 2 Solar Collector S series flush mount kit allows for only a second Thermo® Solar Collector. It is not expandable. The second collector is different from the first collector.
